How to Hug Romantically?

Hugs can take a lot of forms. For instance, there are hugs we share with friends, or with family members. And then there are those romantic hugs. If you want to learn how to hug your partner romantically, or you want some tips on how to do it just right-then read on!

EditSteps

  1. 1
Be spontaneous. Timing is everything. Give your partner a surprise hug while you're both having fun, laughing, or just casually watching a movie.

  1. 2
Get comfortable. A romantic hug requires patience. This isn't the kind of embrace you do hastily, like leaving your aunt's house at Thanksgiving. Not at all. If you try to hug and can't relax, the other person will sense your tension and it may create an uncomfortable feeling between you two.
    • If standing is uncomfortable, take the other person by the hand and sit side by side.
    • Ask what would make your partner feel more comfortable.
  2. 3
Move in and embrace your partner. Wrap your arms around a comfortable spot while moving your head to the side.
    • You'll feel most confident at this point if you know your partner well. So be sure you're with somebody you've gotten to know and trust.
  3. 4
Make eye contact. Look deeply into your partner's eyes. Nonverbal communication is invaluable and increases intimacy.

EditTips

  • Whether you get fresh breath from gum, mints, brushing or spray, it's guaranteed to help. Nothing can draw you out of the moment more than an unpleasant odor emanating from your partner.
  • An adequate room temperature works best for the most romantic embraces. Too warm and you may get sweaty and/or self-conscious, too cold and your partner(or even you!) may only be hugging for the added degrees.
  • Take moments to pause and reflect with your partner. Use extra eye contact, and let your special someone know what you're feeling.
  • Hugging is like dancing or kissing; it's interactive. You feed off the energy of the other person, and you can't force a response.
  • Arm placement is important. If your man is taller, you can wrap your arms behind his neck and pull yourself closer to him. If your lady is smaller, you can wrap your arms around her waist.
  • One way to enhance spontaneity is to surprise your love with a hug from behind. As long as he or she isn't doing anything too important, wrapping your arms around their waist, and resting your head against theirs can be a super sweet surprise.

Edit
Warnings

  • Selfishness will ruin your hug. Be a giver.
  • Never force yourself on anyone.
  • Your arms should never confine the other person's. Everybody wants to feel free to move around.
  • A romantic hug doesn't always stay a hug. Be ready for the next step if you're with somebody you care about.
